Being the introvert that I am, I tend to avoid any photo meet ups, because it involves being around large group of humans and having to make small talk with people I’ve never met before. And while I am skilled at many things, small talk is NOT one of them.
People who know me are surprised that I am an introvert because I appear functional and sociable, but that is a facade. I am completely comfortable in small groups, but I’m a mess in big groups.
That being said, my friend did manage to convince me to go to a photo meet up at the Queen Mary, which, as many times as I’ve been there for events, I have never taken a photo.
I am a little surprised and proud of myself for making it to this shoot. Social anxiety aside, it was a sunrise shoot, and sunrise at during this time of the year is at 6am. I had to wake up at 3:30am! I am not even sure why I bothered with sleeping.
So fun fact: there is a fence around the Queen Mary! I guess I never paid attention to said fence during the many previous times I visited the Queen, as I was actually trying to get on the boat with a purchased ticket, not trying to sneak a photo of her at the ass crack of dawn.
If you want to take a photo without the fence, you have to think of some creative ways (that I am not endorsing) to get your photo. Now imagine that, and 36 other photographers also trying to covertly take a photo of the Queen Mary. Challenge Accepted!

Success! Managed to get the shot I wanted, with no fence. The only thing I did wish was that it wasn’t windy so I can get better reflections. However, I am happy with what I got.
Oh. 36 photographers trying to be covert is an oxymoron. That was a fail.
I will leave it at that.
