The funny thing about driving in the park to try to catch sunrise is that you’re driving in darkness and you’re not quite sure whether or not you are in a decent spot for sunrise or not, because you can’t see anything at all. It’s completely dark out there in the desert, and the only thing you can really make out are the silhouettes of trees. We really just found a turn out in the road and hoped for the best in that when light finally came, it would reveal a beautiful spot.
I don’t think you can really go wrong with Joshua Tree though: with the clouds the hills and the trees, everything made for the perfect backdrop. To top it off, I was able to catch the sunburst! Another reason why sunrises are worth waking up for..
